family.
Hunter Beery, Father, Deceased at 30, Former Professor for Magical Theater at WADA. Hunter Beery was from a long line of purebloods who had supported the arts in centuries. Youngest of two brothers, he grew up enjoying the arts as most of his family did. He went to Hogwarts and was sorted and Slytherin, but it didn't seem to quite matter. He was still as friendly and charming as he was to anyone as a Slytherin can get. He was successful in that matter. Many praised him for his well said poetry's and great voice while in the Hogwarts choir. Once he graduated, he became to fully pursue his actual passion of Acting and attended Wizarding Academy of the Arts where he met his wife, Olivia. He fell in love with the smart muggleborn actress who shared the same passion as he did. Eventually, when they both graduated, they happily took jobs at the academy where dramatic arts became their life - and where they died in a reckless homicide at the burning of WADA's Grand Theater.
Olivia Beery, Mother, Deceased at 28, Former Professor for History of Wizarding Acting at WADA. Olivia Beery was beautiful French halfblood that grew up in France for most of her childhood. She attended wizarding school in Beuxbatons but had a passion for arts that made her eagerly seek the Wizarding Academy of the Arts. It was not hard for her to assimilate. In fact her English was superb, considering her love for English playwrights, like the likes of Victor Hugo. She met Hunter at the WADA, and she often loved to say that it was love that first note. She had attended one of his recitals and once he sang his first note, Olivia was hooked. They devoted their lives to WADA, eventually dying through a widespread of fire a year after Hugo was born. She would have been a great mother, Hugo knew.
Herbert Beery, Uncle, 48, Former Hebology Professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and now Professor of Magical Theater at WADA. Hebert was the eldest of the Beery brothers. Unlike his younger brother, he felt like he needed to do something outside of the arts. He enjoyed it greatly, yes, but he felt like he needed to set himself apart. He found a passion for magical plants, and soon enough he pursued a career in Herbology. With his passion for life and success, he became one of the many renowned Herbologists of his time, teaching at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry immediately at the end of his one year internship around the world. He was good at what he does, but as each and every class passed each day and years passed by, he found himself growing tired of teaching the same thing. He began to actually start dramatic plays at Hogwarts, thinking that maybe he could spark his interest more. It helped quite a lot, and he grew to love acting more then. When his brother died, he left Hogwarts and took the very same position his brother left at WADA, feeling he needed to continue the legacy his brother had started. He also became a father to Hugo then - one that Hugo modeled himself after. history.
Early History: Hunter Beery had his arm around his utterly dazzling wife Olivia with a proud smile growing on his face, as he stood behind the stage of the renowned Wizarding Academy of Dramatic Arts' Grand Theatre. They were both watching their students amazingly perform the closing night performance of the tragedy Wizard, Where Art Thou?, when a splitting scream emanated from the very pregnant woman in his arm, indicating only one thing: her water broke.
The production halted, as people rushed to where they were, Hunter panicking with worry. He tried to control himself as someone shouted that Olivia needed to be brought to St. Mungo's, but he could only nod and hold his wife, as people rushed them to the floo. Everything was a blur then. Wizards and witches dressed in starking white clothes, him and his wife screaming together as she held his hand tightly. Only when the cry of a baby did time slow down, as the Healer handed Olivia his baby boy.
It was the proudest moment of his life.
They named him after wizarding playwright Victor Hugo, who had written plays to both the muggle and wizarding society - and the very play that they produced the night their boy was born. In fact, he was a patron at WADA, and right before his wizarding death, Hunter trained with him. It was quite fitting for their son, considering it also continued the Beery's tradition of naming their children with a name that starts with an 'H'.
Life was a joy to the Beery family as Hugo was born. Both parents still worked at WADA, and in fact brought Hugo with them at times. Many of their students enjoyed having the cherub baby boy around - at least, when he wasn't crying. In which case, Olivia would just laugh and send him over to his Herbologist uncle, Herbert Beery. Everything was well, and the couple enjoyed being parents as well as being teachers for those who seeking
Tragedy unfortunately became a real life theme to the Beery family a year into Hugo's birth. During the opening night of their newest production of the tragedy, Witches Go Forth!, WADA's Grand Theatre suffered an attack. It was one fire that started it all. One of their students cast the strongest spell of Inferno possible in a suicide attempt, and soon enough the production became a tragedy that would go on the histories of many Wizarding Drama books. A few people survived, but unfortunately it didn't include Hugo's parents Hunter and Olivia Beery.
Hugo was with his uncle that night. Fortunately for him, he was too young to even remember his parents.
He grew up knowing of them, through his uncle and WADA itself. Hebert eventually took a job at WADA, pursuing his dream and giving justice to the death of his brother and his sister in law. They rebuilt the Grand Theater in the name of Hunter and Olivia - and Hugo often found himself wandering the walls if only to feel some sense of his parents.
He was proud of his parents and their work, especially as many students and professors would stop him as he wandered around WADA, telling him about his parents. He wished they were present, so that he got to know them. He knew they were great people. He didn't want to say that he didn't miss them, but he didn't have much of a memory about them. Sometimes, he would think that he would dream about them, but everything was so vague. It almost seemed as though he was learning merely about great playwrights or actors. But he never felt he particularly lacked in parents.
Herbert was a great pseudo-father to Hugo, he raised him with a knowledge of the arts and a knowledge of greatness where he knew he would be able to pursue anything. His uncle praised him, as well as those in WADA, that he can achieve anything. Herbert taught him to have a passion to live, passion to seek your dreams and a passion to be great. And Hugo knew he was going to be. He was a Beery, after all, as his uncle would say. Every Beery had their own greatness and rose to their own reputation and name.
That is the attitude that he had when he stepped foot into Platform Nine and Three Quarters on his first day to learn magic. He had seen it through the halls in WADA, and quite honestly he couldn't wait until the day he mastered everything and would make a name out of himself.
Little did he know that Hogwarts wasn't exactly like his perfect little world in WADA. He walked in with confidence into the train, but the amount of people he didn't know, the older years staring down at him, his fellow first years looking way too nervous, made him feel immediately wary. It almost seemed excruciating as he sought a carriage to settle himself for the ride. But once he got to the castle and got sorted in a house that supposedly housed many great ambitious figures, he knew he was going to be fine.
Hugo enjoyed the idea that he was in Slytherin especially as the Sorting Hat mentioned how successful he was going to be in the house. The years went by with many scaling events that happened, particularly those centered around Harry Potter. Hugo had heard of him as he grew up but he couldn't help but think of him as a myth, especially at seeing him in his scrawny self. He wasn't worth the attention that people were giving him, which only made Hugo turn a blind eye on him. He had much more important things to focus on and that was to build his name and reputation. He knew he could be great and he did everything that he could to be. In Slytherin, he learned to do anything it took to get what you wanted. With dramatics as his background, he wasn't afraid to fool people into doing his homework, or perhaps give him the password to the kitchens. He had a way with words and charm, and it was his tool to get what he wanted.
Eventually, some students found out about his valuable skill and had offered him favors and even money to get them something. It was then that Hugo knew that he had some form of power over people and he knew he was on his way to be successful.
In his fifth year, Hugo knew he was going to have many more opportunities in his belt. He had a good name with him, so he knew he need not worry about the Carrow-controlled school. He was named Prefect, after all. This was the time to rise to the top. The year went by very dramatically The War: (What was your character's affiliation?
